THE old “Welcome to Naracoorte” signs at the town entrances are to be taken down and won’t be replaced.
Naracoorte Lucindale Council resolved at its April meeting to take down the signs, which had become “unnecessary” according to mayor Erika Vickery.
“The signs are not kept up to date and they look rather tired,” she said.
“Some of that information could go in other places.”
Cr Craig McGuire moved a motion that the signs be taken down.
Cr Ken Schultz questioned what would be made of the service club signs attached to the larger wooden entrance signs.
“I actually put the Rotary club one up myself,” he said. “They are very expensive signs.”
The mayor said they would be used elsewhere, advertising what services were in town.
Cr Flynn moved that the service club signs be put in a more appropriate location such as the information bay on Stewart Tce.
The motion was carried.
