OXLEY pre-selection candidate Lorraine Gordon has responded to comments made by Mr Stoner about her in last week’s Guardian.
She said his claim that she did not live in the electorate was not true.
“My 1200 ha beef cattle property is in the Oxley electorate and has been for well over 30 years!” Mrs Gordon said.
She reminded Mr Stoner that while she was indeed Urunga-based, due to boundary realignments, the town would be in the seat of Oxley for the 2015 election.
“This is one of the reasons I am running for pre-selection,” she said.
“And I note that Mr Stoner himself lives in a block of units overlooking the beach in Port Macquarie … Port Macquarie is not in his Oxley electorate.”
Mrs Gordon said the number of portfolios for which Mr Stoner was now responsible could only result in his efforts being spread more thinly amongst them all.
“This man is not Superman, he should have been realistic enough to knock some of them back and spread the workload amongst the many other capable members of the party.
“According to the feedback I am receiving he isn’t coping with the workload he already has – where is the common sense in all of this?”
She said the result would be less focus and attention on the seat of Oxley and less time to address the concerns of his constituents.
