THE PILOT program for a dialysis unit is finally in place, the fit-out at the Nambucca Heath Care Centre is underway and the first patient could begin local treatment mid-way through the month … but more help is till needed.
To continue the fundraising efforts and put money towards the fit out of the new building for the dialysis facility, on May 10 there will be a fundraiser dinner, auction and raffle.
Already the generous support and donations received by the Nambucca Valley Dialysis Fund committee has achieved a lot.
“The money we’ve already received has gone to fit out the room at the practice now,” long-time advocate Rona Freeman said.
“It’s also helped to pay for the the builder, plumber, electrician, plasterer, carpenter; as well as hand basins, blankets, trolleys and more.
“If it hadn’t been for the support of the community, all this wouldn’t have happened.”
The dinner will be held at the Nambucca Heads Leagues and Sports Club and the night will be a combined effort between the cricket, rotary and junior league clubs.
A great night is assured with compere Mark Warren, and famous faces including former jockey Malcolm Johnston, and football legends Paul (Nobby) Clark and Steve Carter.
“We’re hoping to get a large number of people to the event – we’ve had an excellent response so far,” Rona said.
Tickets are $35 per head which includes a Chinese smorgasbord, entertainment, lucky door prizes and an auction.
Pre-sale tickets are preferred to assist with catering.
They are available at Nambucca Heads Leagues and Sports Club, Golden Sands Tavern, Nambucca Heads, Nambucca Health Care Centre, Macksville Ex-Services Club, Scotts Head Bowling Club and Bowraville Pharmacy.
Tickets will also be available at the door on the night.
